Beware of the Unlimited Bandwidth Web Hosting Providers

August 17th, 2009

If you have a website, one of the most important things you need to know about is bandwidth. Basically, bandwidth is the amount of data you can transfer at one time.

The less bandwidth there is, the slower the pages take to load, regardless of the amount of visitors to the site. With more visitors, each visitor is going to have to wait his or her turn if you don’t have enough bandwidth to accommodate everyone. When selecting a hosting plan, you have to consider the bandwidth you will need.

Be careful when someone claims they provide unlimited bandwidth or monthly transfer. Anyone claiming unlimited bandwidth is simply lying. There’s no such thing as Unlimited Bandwidth.

I have not seen the option of unlimited megabytes per second. There are various web hosting companies which don’t have access lines of its own but even then promises clients that unlimited bandwidth can be provided, how is it possible?

With high bandwidth site that have unlimited plans, most of the time they will be disconnected. When they are disconnected, no refunds are given. Typically, the web hosting company states that the website has violated the acceptable use policy or else their terms of service.

When researching what source you will use to serve your website always read the terms of service for any hidden policies. More information about the so-called Unlimited disclaimer can be found in the fine text.

When getting started, monitor your usage for the first three to four months to get a good estimation on how much time you would need from your web hosting service. These factors must be considered while estimating. How many users will access your web site? How many pages to be access? How big are the graphic and HTML files?

More bandwidth will be needed when you download large multimedia, computer programs, and files. One bandwidth concern is using Flash on your website, as it consumes a lot of it. Virtual reality, as well as full length 3D presentations, will require a greater bandwidth than other things.

It’s not precise, but it still will give you something to work with till your site’s been online for some time and real traffic stats are generated. Do not go for the trap that the companies try to get you into with the unlimited bandwidth.

Three Tips To Dominate Your Competition in Your Internet Lawyer Marketing Efforts

August 13th, 2009

Make no mistake, the web is better than the old-school ads that law firms used to use like yellow books, billboards & even TV in some areas. The web is by far the best place for perceptive Lawyer Marketing experts to get the best cases over other attorneys in their local geography. Good news – if you haven’t started marketing your firm on the web yet, you haven’t lost too much ground, and can still make money. Here are strong suggestions to capitalize on internet search:

1. SEO, SEO, SEO. Start to SEO your website. You are missing out on people looking specifically for you every day. There are literally thousands of searches every month by someone looking for an Employment Lawyer (or your area of law) in Riverside (or your city). Bottom line, you need to be found on the search engines, ideally the first page. That is what SEO does for you. If done well, SEO will get you on the first page for the most-searched keywords potential clients are using to find an attorney.

2. Spend The Money For A Pro In Legal SEO – Yes, there are many things that you can do on your own to help your cause, but there is only so much improving of your meta tags, improving your headings, bolding your text and other simple optimization techniques you can do yourself. Why do people hire you? Because you know what you are doing. Whatever money you spend on a good SEO Consultant for Law Firms is money well spent. But do your research. Don’t just hire a local company who says they ‘know’ optimization. Make sure they are good at optimizing legal websites, as lawyer sites are very competitive and difficult to get on page one.

3. Create an Impressive Web Site – Think like a Lawyer Marketing Professional. Don’t get a low-quality website here. You are competing with other lawyers who know the value of the internet. Think of your site as a something to bring you clients. The true purpose of your attorney marketing is to get them to contact you. And don’t just focus on the people who are looking for you on Bing and don’t know who you are yet, but make sure you keep the ones who are handed to you!

Do your own research. Go to Google and type in Lawyer Marketing, or Lawyer SEO. If their own site shows up for those highly-searched attorney marketing terms, then they probably have the ability to get your web site ranked high too. Depending on your geography and practice area, (some like Divorce are more competitive than others) you could expect to pay thousands of dollars a month or more for a good SEO professional. If all those searchers are looking for your specialty, do you think you would get at least one to two cases a month?

Lets say someone gets referred to you, where are they going to go to look YOU up? Absolutely! The web! So when they type your name into Bing, be certain that what they see is top quality. The last thing you want is for someone to be so unimpressed with your site that once they find you, they go back to Google and retain a different lawyer.

Expand your case load thanks to the internet. If you want to excel at attorney marketing, use these tips and start taking advantage of the power of the internet. Good luck, share your ideas with us! I will be happy to help!
