The Different Kinds Of Graphics Cards

When it comes to upgrading your graphics cards, in your computer, it is important to know the different types you will be looking at. There is such a variety of cards that it is quite overwhelming. Knowing, at least what type you need will help eliminate some of the stress of buying a new card.

First you have PCI-E(xpress) cards. Your motherboard must have an available PCI-E slot in order to use this type of card. The PCI-E cards are some of the more advanced cards, which provide you with a high graphical experience.

An AGP card; however, is much less advanced. It is similar in the aspect that you must have an open AGP slot. Other than that, speeds vary, with the highest or fastest being 8x. The problem; however, is that each motherboard can only handle a certain speed (refer to you manual to determine what yours can handle).

A card type that is a bit more outdated would be PCI cards. You would, obviously, need an available PCI slot on your motherboard for this type of card. Unless you have an older system, or motherboard, this PCI cards will not even be an option for you. However, if this is the way you need to go, you can still find a decent variety to choose from.

The final cards are known as integrated. . These are cards are the typical cards that are shipped in a standard computer. If you have made upgrades, when ordering, to your graphics card, you will not have an integrated card. Either way, they are easy to upgrade. Simply figure out what slots you have open, and you know what you need.

Upgrading graphics cards can be a time consuming task, when it comes to variety and options anyhow. Prepare yourself, ahead of time, for the type of card you can use, and you are one step ahead of the game. Knowing what you are looking for and what you want to see will help in making your final decision.
