Here are a collection of some of the most strange events that have led straight to the person involved needing data recovery. Please note that no names have been used solely to protect the innocent. Read more and discover a few faves from the past couple of years.

Stupid Feline

A design student had left her Mac-book charging on the lounge floor for a few hours, her kitten mistook the keyboard as litter tray.

Chopper Hop

Workers of a global telecomms company were working against time while aboard a helicopter when they accidentally dropped their laptop.

Gone Bananas

An IT specialist left the remains of his banana peel on top of an external drive. The contents soon oozed, seeped into the drive and damaged company data.

Butchered

The drive of a butcher shop crashed and sent it in for recovery, packed in Foam, with the remains of some cured ham.

Shampoo Job

On a flight, a passenger packed his laptop PC into his main bags along with his toiletries. The shampoo leaked, right into the laptop’s hard drive and washed the data away.

Sock Shocks

What was supposed to be a minor mend job became an important one when a customer shipped his drive up in 2 socks which, of course, did not offer best of protection during shipping.

Rescue Mishap

After a small fire broke out in the research office of a UK university. Well-intentioned firemen assertively attacked with water, soaking all of the computers and servers in the process…

Goodness Greases!

A college professor asserted he heard his drive squeaking. He opened it and sprayed it with lubricant. The drive stopped squeaking, and subsequently ceased working as well.

Whatever could have happened to your hard drive, portable or memory stick “do not panic”. Data Recovery gurus have a good success rate of rescuing information from even the most seriously damaged of gear. Whether you've got a portable that has been dropped, a snapped USB flash drive or a clunking hard disk drive hard drive recovery is possible in most cases.

Jason Sloan runs a data recovery business called Kingdom Data Recovery Edinburgh who service all the UK. He has got many articles on his site which refer to issues with storage and useful info regarding stopping information loss.

It is always wise to take precautions when it comes to your computers, whether they are used for business or personal matters. There are some standard, logical rules to follow that will make sure your computers are not being damaged by your personal ignorance. Computer repair technicians can be expensive.

Both laptops and desktops can be expensive to fix if there is extensive damage, even if the problem was originally small. It might be more logical to replace the machine, rather than have it repaired. Operating systems change frequently enough where this might be a more prudent decision that trying to repair the old one. However, much information can be lost this way and buying new computers is not always a feasible option.

Computers should always be kept in dry, cool areas, especially if they are used frequently. When someone uses computers extensively throughout the day, keeping the internal chips cool is extremely important. Overheating will cause damage that cannot be repaired. Replacement then becomes necessary, rather than repair.

Drinks and foods that are more liquid than solid should be kept away from the machine to prevent spills. When computers get wet, they no longer work. Electronic equipment does not work well when it gets wet. The immediate damage can and usually is permanent.

Computers that are connected to the Internet should always have a good, working anti-virus program. The user should make sure that the program is protecting the operating system from harm that is caused by spies, hackers and viruses.

If a machine is already infected with some kind of spy program or virus, users need to take it a computer repair technician as soon as they can. The hard drive can be a sensitive thing and all of the information that is stored on it is at risk, if there is no anti-virus program installed on the machine. Sometimes a virus can be eliminated by following steps found on the Internet. If the Internet cannot be accessed or the damage is too extensive, a professional should be consulted.

Finding computer repair in London is simple and convenient when you know where to search. You can find qualified VGA repair in London without leaving your living room.

We have all had moments where technology has failed us. You could be working on a spreadsheet on a laptop only to see that terrifying blue screen with the white text replacing your pie chart. When this happens you need to find a computer repair Store.

A good place to start is to ask friends, family and close work colleagues. Ask them who they use and their experience of using them. As well as helping you to find the right people it can also help you avoid the wrong ones.

One way of testing this is to see how they greet you when you enter the shop. For example if they are busy then they should reassure you that they will be with you as soon as possible. If you are waiting for a long time they should acknowledge how long you have been waiting.

Some people are often nervous about going to this kind of professional. They may feel that they will be looked down on for not having technical knowledge. However they should be aware of this and make sure they can explain what they have to do in a simple fashion.

Ideally the professional should offer a clear quote based on what they have to do. You should also ask about any charges such as tax. Some companies will allow you to get your machine back before paying the full amount back while others will keep hold of it before you pay off the full amount.

As well as fixing your laptop or desktop you will often be able to find other accessories from a computer repair store. They will also often be able to offer upgrades, website design and so forth. It is worth looking online to see what is available in your local area.

Professionals providing PC repair London area keep your hardware running efficiently. You can also get laptop repair done, using the same high quality standards.

If you’ve been wondering why your computer has been running slower than usual, freezing up and dying on you just when you’re doing something significant, maybe you need to have a general check up as a computer maintenance process. There are a lot of factors why these hassles go on especially if you haven’t been paying attention to it for quite a while. So it’s about time to check the culprits and learn how to get rid of it.

Computer Virus

When things begin to slow down, you always think of computer viruses as the perpetrators – and oftentimes, your hunch is correct. It is commended to execute a virus scan to know if there are any computer viruses lurking in your PC, although admittedly, some viruses like Worm can’t easily be found by an anti-virus software. So look for any recommendations on the best anti-viruses out there then run the program until you track something down. These anti-virus software usually just deal with it and it also has prompts that will guide you with the steps on getting rid of detected computer viruses. After sweeping your computer clean of these computer viruses, activate the software to perform regular scans whenever you utilise it just to be sure the computer viruses get barred.

Spyware, Malware, Adware

Surfing the net day in and day out makes you subject to these mini programs entering into your system from several websites you go to without you even noticing it and these are the spyware, adware and/or malware. What the spyware does is, as the term suggests, snoop on the manner you surf the net – your patterns, keystrokes and other user information to monitor your web browsing and then all these gained information that are not permitted. Unlike a virus or malware which very much resembles a virus, a spyware does not scatter and corrupt files. The solution is to download a spyware or malware remover for free and you just have to install it and remove all these irritating programs running in the background.

With all these viruses using up space in your computer and spreading out, it is no surprise that your computer slow down. So perform a regular check and keep your computer clean at all times. Find the best software to protect your computer from all these undesirable irritants and you’ll be fine.

Need an answer to all your computer maintenance needs? Consider turning to IT outsourcing firms which offer the most dependable services.

by Travis Van Slooten

Almost everyone has had to deal with a hard drive failure and most of those people have had experience with hard drive data recovery. A hard drive failing is one of the worst things any computer user can experience. Until, that is, they see what it can cost to recover their data. Depending on the damage done to the drive, the cost can be hundreds to thousands of dollars. Just for a single drive. But there is a reason this process is so expensive. It is not simply because computer people get paid a huge hourly rate. What is required to restore the data on a hard drive is extremely intensive.

The first thing that data recovery specialists try to pinpoint is the extent of the damage to the drive. If the computer was attacked by a virus or if the cause of the data loss was due to malfunctioning software, hard drive data recovery is not as tough as when the hard disk undergoes mechanical failure. In the case of a virus attack or a software problem, the computer’s operating system is no longer able to identify the corrupted data. A professional is needed first to separate the data down to its binary form and then to bring it back to a format readable to the OS. The process is less complicated than if the damage was due to mechanical failure.

A computer has only two moving parts – the fans, and the hard drive, which is a major component. Because of its sensitive nature, the hard drive breaking down is not an uncommon occurrence, and when it does, finding a replacement is not easy. First, there’s the matter of finding a part that matches exactly. It’s not like recovery technicians have a bunch of hard drive replacements around just waiting for the next case. A replacement part must be so similarly matched to the defective one that it might as well have been made at the same factory at the same period. Pinning down that suitable replacement can take time and effort, and therefore, money.

Perhaps one of the most expensive aspects of data recovery is getting the damaged drive functional again. Corrupted data can be reconstructed at a more affordable cost but once the drive is damaged from water or heat elements, your bill could go way higher than simple data retrieval. The cost of recovering data would also be largely dependent on the drive size and the volume of data that needs to be broken down and reconstructed into legible form again.

The best thing you can do is to prevent these problems from taking place. Yes, even the sturdiest hard drive will fail after prolonged use. Nevertheless, if you back up data often, you will only need to worry about replacing the drive and not the important files.

About the Author:

If your personal files and documents are important to you, don’t take chances when it comes to computer crashes! It may cost a little for an online storage service, but compared to the expense of hard drive data recovery, you will be cutting back quite a bit.

This is why I have sampled a registry cleaner that has been circulating in the internet for a long time now.

This registry cleaner is the Error Fix software. Of course, its landing page would tell everyone that its the best registry cleaner out there but I wanted to see if it could live up to its claims. So I downloaded the software and began testing it to see if it really works.

Aside from the very basic feature of scanning and cleaning the registry, Error Fix also has different other features along with it. There are a number of things that the Error Fix can do for its users. But one thing that I noticed with it right away was the ease of the installation. I didnt get any problems through the entire set up which I think is pretty encouraging.

I was suffering from the constant slowing of my pc, so I put the Error Fix through the fire right away. It was able to detect what seemed to me a great number of errors with my registry and it only took me a few clicks to finally have my registry all cleaned out. Im not sure if it was just me, but I could swear that my computer worked a bit faster after those few minutes of trying the software out.

What I think is surprisingly pleasant with the Error Fix is that it can produce back up of my system settings.

If you find that creating a whole back up of your entire Windows system to be too much of a hassle, you can decide to just create a back up of your registry. The thing about our systems is that if an essential file gets corrupted, itll disrupt the entire functioning of your computer. A back up is, hence, always handy.

For those who are impressionistic, youll appreciate the professional look of the Error Fix. It has a very elegant and polished interface thats quite refreshing when youre working with the software for scans.

But the sophistication does not jeopardize the functionality and I still found it very easy to access the right buttons.
