Passenger Rights Chief Says That Delta Hacked My Email

October 24th, 2009

An airline passenger rights advocate is accusing Delta Air Lines of hacking into her computer and e-mail accounts to sabotage her organization’s attempts to mandate basic services during flight delays.

Kate Hanni, a resident of California, is the founder of the Coalition for an Airline Passengers Bill of Rights, an organization lobbying for federal laws that require airlines to provide bathroom access, clean air, and access to medical treatment when passengers are held up for hours on the tarmac. The legislation would also give passengers an option to exit the plane if they have been delayed on the tarmac for over three hours. Four versions of a “Airline Passenger’s Bill of Rights of 2009″ are currently pending before Congress.

In a lawsuit filed in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, Hanni accuses the world’s largest airline carrier and an aviation consulting firm of conspiring to breach her computer and email in order to derail her lobbying efforts. She seeks a minimum of $11m in damages.

According to court documents, Hanni claims earlier this year she began exchanging emails with Frederick Foreman, an analyst with Virginia-based Metron Aviation who was researching US government airline surface delay data. During their correspondence, both swapped data and information about surface delays without explicit permission from Metron, of which Delta is a client.

Hanni said her PC and American Online email account were both accessed illegally this summer, with AOL confirming the email breach. Some of her data was copied to an unknown location, and other files were corrupted and rendered useless.

The plot thickens in Foreman’s affidavit. He claims that on September 25, 2009, Metron executives confronted him with “what appeared to be hacked and stolen email communications” between Hanni and himself, as well as two media contacts. The emails were sent from his private accounts on MSN and AOL and not sent through Metron’s internal email system, he claims.

Foreman states in his sworn affidavit that the executive informed him the emails were sent to the Metron from Delta and that the airline was “mad and upset” Hanni had been provided with the flight delay information. Foreman claims he tried to explain that the data was publicly available online from US government statistics, but was still fired and escorted off the premises.

When reached for comment, Delta flatly stated, “the allegation that we would hack an individual’s e-mail is absurd.”

Hanni claims Delta has a motive for seeking and destroying her data because if passenger rights bills are passed, airlines stand to lose over $40m in revenues in addition to millions more in accommodations for customers exiting planes during long delays. Currently, airlines are not restricted by law on how long planes can hold passengers on the tarmac.

Ways Of Article Marketing

October 23rd, 2009

Essentially, article marketing is a mode of advertising the products or services offered by your business. It has been used for many years; since the era of mass printing made it a viable opportunity for business owners. Obviously, in its earliest form article marketing was produced on paper and principally distributed in popular publications. However, today the distribution of marketing articles has been made faster and easier with the advent of the internet.

Article Marketing Today :

Article marketing, perhaps unsurprisingly, entails the writing of articles, which ideally are related in some way to your products or services. The articles are typically short, and range from 400-600 words, the aim being to interest a potential customer, but not bore him, or her, with too much extraneous information. A completed article is then distributed across the web on any number of free article sites, known as article directories. If written well, an article of this kind can garner interest in your business and attract potential customers or clients.

Today, internet marketing and e-commerce are big businesses. Subsequently, online articles marketing has become a popular form of advertising, especially among small companies that are unable to afford expensive methods of advertising. In fact, the world of online articles offers a mutually beneficial relationship: owners of article directories are provided with free content and business owners are offered free advertising.

The modern form of article marketing differs from its predecessors in other ways, too. For example, the presence of search engines has lead to search engine optimization, often known as SEO, which is the use of keywords and phrases to garner traffic to your article. In turn, this means that article writers and companies are able to target a specific audience, which ensures that their readers are also potential customers or clients.

Benefits of Article Marketing :

The chief advantage of article marketing, as already mentioned, is the fact that it is one of the very few free modes of advertising. However, there are many more reasons to explore the opportunity of article marketing. For example, well-written articles can increase the perception of your business. In other words, an interesting, informative and professional article will ensure that your company is perceived with high-regard.

Some article directories offer the opportunity to control the advertising space on your article’s page. This provides two advantages for a business owner. On one hand, he, or she, is able to ensure that no other advertising is competing for the same customers. Alternatively, it offers control over the advertising on the page and the potential revenue created from it.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that articles marketing is a relatively easy way to promote your business. Once the articles have been distributed, they remain online for as long as you require them. Therefore, they can be a constant source of inbound traffic, with little or no extra work involved.

That said, the rise of article marketing has led to a decrease in the quality of articles and increased instances of plagiarism. Subsequently, if you plan to utilize article marketing it is wise to ensure that your text stands out for its informative content and high-quality. Submit your articles for free- Article Canyon

Image Optimization: Very Essential For Load Time Reduction

August 18th, 2009

Even though more and more Internet users switch to broadband every year, a large portion of the web’s population is still running on good old dialup connections. It is therefore unwise to count them out of the equation when you’re designing your website, and a very major consideration we have to make for dialup users is the loading time of your website.

Generally, all the text on your website will be loaded in a very short time even on a dialup connection. The culprit of slow-loading sites is mainly large images on your website, and it is very required to strike a delicate balance between utilizing just enough images to attract your users and not to bog down the overall loading time of your site.

You should similarly go to a greater length and optimize every image on your site to make certain it loads in the least time feasible. What I truly mean is to employ image editing software to remove unnecessary info on your images, and thereby effectively shortening the file size of your image without affecting its appearance.

If you own Photoshop, it will be obvious to you that when you save an image as a JPEG file, a dialog box appears and lets you pick the “quality” of the JPEG image — ordinarily a setting of 8 to 10 is good enough as it will preserve the quality of your image while saving it at a little file size. If you do not have Photoshop, there are many free image compressors online that you can download and utilize to reduce your image’s file size.

On the other hand, you may opt to save your images in PNG format to get the best quality at the least file size. You may also save your images in GIF format — the image editing software clips away all the color information not utilized in your image, hence giving you the littleest file size feasible. However, saving in GIF format will commonly|oftentimes|ofttimes compromise the appearance of your image, so make your choice wisely!

Search Engine Friendly Pages: They Are Very Important In SEO

August 16th, 2009

There is no point in building a website unless there’re visitors coming in. A major source of traffic for most sites on the Internet is search engines like Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Altavista and so on. And so, by designing a search engine cozy site, you’ll be able to rank simply in search engines and obtain more visitors.

Major search engines employ programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as persons search for it.

If you want to make your site indexed without problems, you should refrain utilizing frames on your website. Frames will only confuse search engine robots and they might even abandon your site because of that. Moreover, frames make it challenging for utilizers to bookmark a specified page on your site without using long, complicated scripts.

Do not present necessary data in Flash movies or in images. Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present vital words in Flash movies and images rather than textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Use meta tags accordingly on each and every page of your site so that search engine robots know at first glance what that particular page is about and whether or not to index it. By using meta tags, you are making the search engine robot’s job easier so they will crawl and index your site more frequently.

Stop using wrong HTML tags like font to style your page. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are more effective and effective. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and faster to load.
